Packaged food and non-alcoholic beverage manufacturers have a major influence over the way products are produced, sold and promoted.

As part of efforts to improve population nutrition, monitoring food manufacturers on their policies and practices around nutrition can allow us to highlight where Australian food companies are demonstrating leadership, and identify areas for stronger action.

Our recent assessments indicate packaged food and beverage manufacturers across Australia can do more to support their customers in making healthier food choices and improve the health of the communities in which they operate.

Assessments of food manufacturers on their policies for supporting population nutrition  were conducted in 2018, and more recently in 2024.
